It keeps your screen on while you cook.
It happens to everyone. You get everything set up in the kitchen to make dinner, including your trusty phone, tablet, or computer displaying the recipe. You're following right along, and everything's going great … until! In the middle of a messy or time-sensitive task, you turn your head to find the screen asleep—it's dark. Precious seconds are lost as you clean your hands, wipe them off, put in your passcode, and find your place. We've all been there.
If this has ever happened to you (and I'm willing to bet it has!), you'll love Simply Recipes' new Cook Mode. Instead of changing your device's settings, turning off auto-lock, and then remembering to change them back so your battery doesn't run down, you can simply press a button directly on our site.
When you're on a recipe page, scroll down to the ingredients. Above them, you'll see a toggle switch that says "Cook Mode (Keep screen awake)." By clicking this switch, our site will tell your device to keep its screen on as long as you have the recipe open on your screen.
This means you can cook at your leisure, referencing the recipe as many times as you like, without worrying about the screen going dark. I don't know about you, but this will help keep my devices so much cleaner. No more greasy fingerprints!
The next time you use a recipe on Simply Recipes, try out Cook Mode. It's great for multitaskers like me, who often make more than one dish, wash dishes, and listen to a podcast all at once. It's one less thing to worry about.
