My 14-year-old son love, love, loves KIND bars, but he knows I don’t always buy them because they’re on the expensive side. So, the other day when I handed him a bar, he was thrilled. “Thanks for getting KIND bars, Mom,” he told me.

And I replied, “You’re welcome, but they're not KIND bars. They’re a new bar from ALDI.”

ALDI Elevation “Only” Bars

  • Price: $4.69 for a six-pack (78 cents per bar)
  • Why I Love Them: These bars are a near-perfect KIND bar dupe but are half the price. My whole household loves them, and they're a wholesome snack that I feel good about my family eating.

What I Love About ALDI's Elevation Only Bars

As you might guess, Elevation Only bars are absolutely perfect KIND bars dupes. Only bars come in three flavors: cashew, cherry, and dark chocolate, peanut butter with dark chocolate, and nuts and sea salt with dark chocolate. A six-bar package costs only $4.69, about half of what a six-pack of KIND bars costs.

All of the flavors are really, really good, but hands down, my fruit-loving son preferred the cashew and cherry bars. “They’re just so good, Mom,” he says.

And my son, after saying that, proceeded, in one evening, to eat four of the six bars in the package. The cashew and cherry bars are chewy and chocolatey with the right crunch of nuts, but the flavor of the dried cherries sings through. They even smell of cherries.

Of the other two flavors, the peanut butter reminds me of a less sweet Reese’s peanut butter cup, and the other is basically dark chocolate and almonds with a few peanuts thrown in for fun. Both of them are also really good, but if you like fruit, you’ll pick my son’s favorite.

No matter your flavor preference, these bars taste pretty much exactly like their KIND bar counterparts—the only difference is that the chocolate stripes on top aren’t diagonal, they’re perpendicular.

What I love is that they’re absolutely perfect after-school and on-the-go snacks. When my son is ravenous after diving practice and we’re headed to volleyball practice, they’re great to nosh on.

If I have to work through lunch, they’re a perfect snack to grab that will tide me over until I can have something more substantial. My husband loves to snack on them while working on his latest home improvement project.

Because they’re such a household favorite, I recommend buying at least two packages at a time. In fact, I’m headed back to ALDI this week to grab a few before this weekend’s volleyball tournament.
